High Energy Bills and AC Maintenance in Florida
By Scott Camire, Owner | A/C Advantage Inc. • June 2026

If your electric bill climbs without a clear reason, the AC system is one of the first places to look. In Florida, cooling is often the largest energy load in the home. Dirty coils, clogged filters, low refrigerant, weak capacitors, poor airflow, and thermostat problems all make the system work harder than it should.
Maintenance Finds Waste Early
A maintenance visit checks the parts that drive efficiency: coil condition, airflow, refrigerant behavior, electrical draw, blower operation, thermostat accuracy, and drain performance. Sometimes the fix is simple. Sometimes the rising bill is an early sign that the system is aging out.
Do Not Wait for Failure
Energy waste often appears before a no-cool call. If the home feels less comfortable and the bill is higher, schedule service before peak summer demand. You may prevent a repair and lower the strain on the system.
