Should You Repair or Replace Your AC in Florida?
By Scott Camire, Owner | A/C Advantage Inc. • June 2026

The repair-or-replace question depends on more than the price of today’s repair. Age, repair history, refrigerant type, energy use, humidity control, comfort complaints, and warranty status all matter.
Repair Makes Sense When
The system is newer, the failure is isolated, parts are available, and the equipment has been maintained. A capacitor, contactor, thermostat issue, or drain problem does not automatically mean replacement.
Replacement Deserves a Look When
The system is over ten years old, repair costs are stacking up, the compressor or coil has failed, rooms stay humid, or the system still uses outdated refrigerant. At that point, repair dollars may be better invested in a properly planned replacement.
The right contractor should explain both options without pressure.
